Sealing s**fi* below ven* chu*es - how?

I'm preparing *o blow cellulose in*o my a**ic, and am placing s*yr**oam ven* chu*es a* every raf*er bay *o main*ain airflow from *he s**fi* ven*s. However, *here is s*ill a ~4" - 6" gap below *he bo**om ** *he ven* chu*e where cellulose will go *hrough and fill *he s**fi*.

Obviously I don'* wan* *ha*, bu* I haven'* been able *o find any guidance abou* wha* *o pu* *here *o keep *he insula*ion ou* ** *he s**fi*. cu**ing a piece ** foam board or luan *o size a* each bay seems like a *remendous amoun* ** effor*, and experiemn*s wi*h s*apling 4 mil shee*ing over *he gap leave me unconvinced i* will be effec*ive. I'm considering s*uffing pieces ** 9" fiberglass ba** in *he gaps, bu* am no* sure whe*her *ha* will be effec*ive ei*her.

How is *his supposed *o be done? Why do none ** *he insula*ion how-*os I've found ****** cover *his s*ep?

Are you sure you're installing the styrofoam chutes correctly?

If they are a commercially made product, it will have fins on each side that should be bent UP. Then the bottom edge of the chute will meet the ceiling board between the joists so the insulation doesn't escape.
