Screwing into stucco

The wall between my attached garage and house is stucco over plywood. I would like to attach shelving to the wall. My plan is to drill pilot holes through the stucco into the studs and anchor the shelving to the studs. My question is what kind of screws should I use? I don't know if I should use a concrete screw like a tapcon, or just a standard, long wood screw.

Re: Screwing into stucco

Tavis, once you have drilled through the stucco and into the studs you need to use 2 1/2" or 3" wood screws. A tapcon has to have a small enough hole to allow it to cut its threads into the masonary.
Since you are drilling through the stucco and into studing you need a wood screw. Hope this helps.

Thanks. That's exactly what I needed.
