Ruud VS GoodMan 13 SEER 3-Ton Air Condensor and Air Handler

Hello - I have narrowed down my search for a replacement for my central air conditioner to two brands and models. One is the Goodman 13 SEER GSX13 Condensor and the other is the RUUD 13 SEER Achiever Series Single Stage(RA13) Condensor. The warranties are comparable and the work to be done is the same. Which is the better brand and will give me the least amount of trouble in the long run? I am leaning towards the RUUD Model as the price difference is minimal.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

While what you are asking is pretty much unknown, since every a/c manufacturer has lemons, you should go by recommendations and history performance. This is what we know for sure: many brands are made by a single company.

Talk to a/c repairmen - they are the ones who deal with various problems on a daily basis, and they can tell you which brands get the least problems.

Based on my experience, and I am not an a/c repairman, Ruud (Rheem) puts together better and more reliable units than Goodman. However that doesn't mean that all Ruud units are better than Goodman's.

Now remember that all manufacturers buy most of their parts from other part manufacturers. Some a/c companies buy better parts than others. It's pretty much like buying a car.

Buy the unit you selected and hope for the best.

If you ask me, a reliable installer is just as important as the brand you choose.
