rust on NEW boiler
lipwak

Hi,

My landlady bought a new boiler about a week ago. It's a Slant/Fin Intrepid tr-30, (TR-30-1.10 P).

The day it was installed I noticed that the metal (cast iron, they say) inside the sheet metal enclosure, the boiler itself, was rusty. Also, the bolts that hold the burner onto the unit were rusty too. And a plug of some sort on top was also rusty.

The company that installed it and Slant/Fin say it is nothing to worry about. Maybe, but is this normal? They are telling me it won't cause problems in the future. Will it?

(I tried to upload a pic but it said it wasn't a valid image file...)

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

John

That is normal. Cast Iron will have rust along with the plug which is black iron.
