Retrofit old cinderblock porch

I have a 6'x6' cinderblock porch 4'off the ground. It is covered with cement and every year I have to patch the cement coating. I wanted to tear it down and rebuild a new one but it will not conform to my towns requirements unless I go thriugh a costly variance process. I decided to try and cover the sides with something but I don't know what. Maybe treated wood that I could stain or some type of siding. Also I thought of putting tile across the top. Do you think any of these things would work? If not what can you suggest?
Thanks, Frank
