Replacing old pipes

My husband and I have a large and long 1950's ranch. I am pretty sure the plumbing should be replaced  but, I am afraid of the cost. The house is a ranch with a full basement. There is a kitchen, two full baths and a wet bar upstairs; a kitchen, laundry room, two full baths and a half bath downstairs. Does anyone have any clues as to what would be involved and a possible cost?

Re: Replacing old pipes

a good plumber could probably do most or all of it in a day, maybe two if he uses pex instead of copper. at a plumbers going rate in the northeast, i'd expect to pay about $800-$1,200 plus materials.
