replacing entranceway

I'm in the middle of replacing the entranceway of my Victorian era home - door, sidelights, and transom. I've made most of the pieces and am just about ready for assembly. Now I'm wondering whether I should glue the mortise-and-tenons, half-laps etc, or just rely on mechanical fasteners (nails, screws, dowels)to hold everything together. (I noticed when replacing some of the original window sashes last year that the sash pieces were held together by dowels with no glue.)
