Repairing an interior chimney

Hi, I want to install a freestanding woodstove in a room that once had a fireplace. The house is very old, over 100 years, and the interior chimney was in need of repairs so the opening was simply closed off and not used. I want to use this existing chimney to vent the woodstove. Can I have a pre-fabricated metal chimney simply inserted into this chimney space, or do I have to also repair the chimney? It is possible to run the pipe down through into the basement as well, where the original chimney clean out is, in order to accomodate a chimney clean out space.

And, about what is the cost, including installation, of this type of chimeny system? I want to make it a gift to my Grandmother.

Thank you,
