Repair jets in my bathtub

Can you replace old jets from inside the bathtub?

Usually not. On most tubs (all I've seen) the only part inside the tun is the trim- the rest is outside so you'll have to gain access to it there. For end jets you may have a removable access panel in the tub surround based on what the base is made like. If so this is pretty easy; if not you may have to remove the tub to do it. And for the jets along the far wall, removal is about the only way to get to them.

Phil,

Thanks for the information. It seems that everybody I talk to
back away from the problem. I guess it may be time to pull
out the tub.

Just out of curiosity: why don't the contractors you called take this job? have they explained why?

Some say there is not enough room to replace the jets. ie. from outside the tub. Most back off. I think because of the liability if the jets start leaking down the road.

I also can't get a definitive answer on replacing the jets from inside the tub.
