Renovating basement bathroom

I am renovating my basement bathroom and want to replace the toilet and shower. My problem is that both the toilet and shower are on a piece of wood to lift them up high enough so that the water from them will flow into the pump that extracts the water to the drain.
I believe that the pump should have been placed in the ground lower but I suspect that was not done because there might have been a bolder under it.
Is my only recourse to remove the pump and try and jack hammer the boulder or is there another option. I tried to attach a picture but wasn't able to. Any help is appreciated.
