removing part of a marble countertop

I'm wondering if there is a method to remove part of a marble countertop on my island (there is a seam where this part can easily be separated from the rest) that is epoxied to the wood cabinet top below.

high heat is what takes seams apart, in the trade we have have these heat strips that you lay ontop of the seam and when it heats up they will come apart. so what ever you use it is going to take high heat or take a saw and put a diamond blade and cut down the seam which will stink as well as create a lot of dust. I would try using high heat. I will see if I can find you a link to what we use so maybe give you an idea
