Removing paint from tin ceilings

I have bought an old bank building with original tile floor, gas lamps, and a beautiful tin ceiling in perfect condition that has been painted white. The old lead paint is peeling off. How can I safely and easily remove this paint from a twelve foot ceiling. Do I need professional help or just a scaffold and some elbow grease? Will a heat gun warp the metal? What about infrared? Or use a chemical? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Terry

Peel-away type 1 stripper is best for this.
Heat gun will cause problems, still not get all the paint off.
Read and observe all precautions, it's a caustic chemical (essentially lye). But it will eat all the paint off, rinses with water, and encapsulates the lead.

What is a peel-away type one stripper? Can I put it on with a brush and will it cling to the ceiling? Thanks. Almost there. Terrell

Top result if you google peel away 1.
