I'm a paint contractor for 38 years and have finally come across a job that scares me to death. I have to bid on restoring the wooden window frames of a historical registry building built in 1904. The building is occupied by a large law firm, that is what scares me the most about the job. The wooden window frames are the old "hard wood" of that era, much better than today's wood. Some windows on the shady side of the building are in good shape, but the other 3 sides are really peeling badly. My main question is how can I strip the wooden frames w/o damaging the sandstone walls around it? I plan on using Duramax paint by Valspar as the finish coat and I plan on contacting Valspar for their advice on the topic.
