I am in the process of remodeling my basement. The electrical is a mess and I am replacing and rerouting allot of the wires.
From my main breaker box, there is a thick braided unshielded cable that runs from the box to the water pipe that comes into my house. The cable is clamped down to my water pipe..
There are some spots where it hangs below a floor joist, and I want to re-route it so that it will be more tidy and I can put up a ceiling without interference.
When I started to loosen the screws on the clamp at the water pipe and the cable started to get loose, there was some slight sparking and my lights flickered.
I ceased what I was doing and tightened the screws back down.
What am I doing wrong, and what can I do?
Did I almost kill myself?
