removing latex from chair

I was painting the trim in my room, and some paint got on my great-grandfather's rocking chair. It is just a little, but the white paint is very noticeable on the arm of the chair. The chair has been refinished (before I painted the trim in room), and has shellac (shining and smooth) on it. Is there any way to remove the dried white paint from the brown rocker?
Thank you for the help! Maggie

Paint thinner should be able to soften and remove the latex paint without harm to the shellac finish. Do a test on the underside of the chair first to make certain that there will be no harm, then proceed with the paint removal.

FWIW, paint thinner will remove most paint build up in paint brushes, so soaking a paint saturated brush in thinner will soften it enough to be combed out with a wire brush, then wash with hot soapy water. Oil based paints can be removed with lacquer thinner.
