Lack of proper attic insulation has caused ice dams to form on the front of my bi- level. I live in the mountains of S.W. Virginia and we have received record snow fall in the last month.
It will get to 40* in the day time and melt the snow and then it will get to 20* at night and re-freeze it. My guttter is full of ice top to bottom and chipping it out is impossible. I tried salt & ice melt without success. I am concerned the weight of the ice will cause my gutters to break loose and also the melting ice will get in behind the gutter and under the 1st row of shingles and then I've got real problems.
