removing eyebrow window
Jim Lacourciere

I have a house that was built in 1885 that has a stained glass eyebrow window in the front hall. The stained glass is bowed into the hall and a couple of pieces are cracked / broken.I would like to remove this window and have it repaired but I can not find any screws or nails that hold it in place. I really do not want to ruin the wood trying to find out how it is fasten in place. Any one have any ideas on how to remove it without breaking it? Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to give me.

Without seeing the window, I would guess you have wood stops holding it in place. Some wood stops are nailed in place and some are just pressed into channels and have to be pulled out. If they have been in that long you can expect some damage to the stops when you try to remove them.
