I bought a eucalyptus outdoor table last year and now it needs to be refinished. I sanded and tested a transparent penetrating oil on the under side of the table, and the color is very uneven. Does anyone have any suggestions as to even out the color and still have some of the woods character show through. The company that manufactured the piece (crate&barrel) obviously stained the wood then used a crappy water based sealer (I dutifully bought more of the stuff and reapplied, as instructed) after two months the wood started to flake off the stain and now it really looks nasty.
Thanks in advance for your advice
