Range hood help
lovehisbook

Can anyone answer a few range hood questions? I have removed upper cabinets over the gas range and hope to be able to remove the wall from the counter up to the ceiling. Doing so would open up this 1970's kitchen. However it also means I would have to convert the range hood from under counter mount to ceiling mount.

Is this possible?? And are there any reasonably priced hoods that can be attached to the 7'6" ceiling? Thank you for any help you can provide.

In most areas there is a limit on how high the range hood can be above the stove. Too high and they are no longer effective at controlling fire. Check with the manufacturer of the range hood you select.

Also look at the framing in the ceiling above the range hood to make sure there isn't framing in your way.

Is there a second floor above this kitchen ?

If I understand you correctly, you want to remove the wall behind the range. Then you won't be able to use a common "wall mount hood".

One option is to get an "ISLAND MOUNT HOOD" - a little pricier but super modern looking.

Now a word about the venting: It's best to have a vent leading to the outside.
