question about a small brick wall in front of my home

i am going to put a small brick wall in front of my home with landscaping bricks..the dirt leading to my house is graded away from the foundation..should this dirt be packed? sort of packed or not at all? I notice when it rained last night that water was pooling in one spot because i have the hole thing packed. it still seeps into the ground but not as quickly as i would like.

thanks

Truth be told, you really don't want water to drain quickly by the foundation of your house. That's one of the primary reasons for people to have gutters, it's to get the water to channel away from the home so it doesn't affect the foundation.

When you lay the bricks, do so with a SLIGHT grade so that the water rolls away from the home, rather than towards the home.
