Proper Ventilation of Furnace

Is it proper to vent the furnace through the chimney? My furnace is in the basement and vents through the chimney stack. The fire place is wood burning and the chimney has no liner. The furnace is oil burning and heating and cooling is forced air.

Thanks!

Re: Proper Ventilation of Furnace

1. Never run a furnace or water heater flue into a chimney also servicing a wood burning fireplace.

2.If the chimney is unlined it should be professionally inspected and brought up to standards before you use it for a wood fire.
