Subject: Laying Ceramic Tile on Concrete Floor
Specs: Slab Florida House built in 2005
We have finally chiseled away/removed the old ceramic tiles and thinset/mortar from the concrete floor. During removal we had a 1" X 3.5" section of the slab about .75" thick come up, underneath it was filled with sand. This section was located in front of the cpvc supply line for the toilet. Do we replace this piece and tile over it or..how do we repair this? We are unsure if this was intentional so the plumbing could be easily accessed or if it should be filled. We would really appreciate some insight into how to deal with this situation.
Also, does anyone know if we will need a floor leveler or underlayment after this?
Thanks so much!
