Prefinished engineered flooring sounds hollow
jandt621

We have prefinished HS engineered flooring that now has some "hollow sounding" spots when we walk on them. I know this is where the glue is not sticking to the floor but how do I fix this problem without ripping up alot of the flooring?

Thanks in advance.

If this is a floating floor, there is no glue under it and having a bit of a hollow knock as you walk across it is normal. If the floor was indeed glued down, then you'll need the help of a flooring professional to remove the affected areas and patch them back in properly.

Is the floor bouncy?
Do you have access from under the floor? Crawl space or basement? Can you see what the floor is resting on? the joists?

I haven't lifted any of the slats up to see what they are restinng on but the house is on a slab so I would assume the slab or some kind of sub-flooring maybe. The floor does not bounce it only sounds hollow when we step on those certain spots. thanks

If the floor is indeed on a slab, there is nothing to worry about. Floating floor does that sometimes, because it'e floating.
