I suspect the 2 exhaust units are more efficient.

Re: portable air conditioning

Some portable air conditioners have one hot air exhaust hose, and some have two air hoses. One for air intake and one for hot air exhaust. A single-hose portable air conditioner will take air from the room that it is in, cool it, and return most of that air back into the room.

During this process, a small amount of that air will be used to cool the unit and will be subsequently blown out of the air conditioner's exhaust hose. This creates slightly negative pressure within the room being cooled, as a small amount of air is constantly being removed from the room.

Note: If this negative pressure is anticipated by drawing unconditioned air into the room from adjacent spaces, then the cooling efficiency is slightly affected.

Poor exhasting & dirty filters, will allow mold to grow throughout the house.

Ck the mfg's installation manual and follow the instructions.

It depends on the situation, if the environment of that area is normal than 1 exhaust is good enough otherwise you will have to go for 2 exhausts.

Re: portable air conditioning

I think 1 exhaust is enough in a room. Room temperature is high with 2 exhaust.

Re: portable air conditioning

This is easy to handle and manage in your place. It can manage to decrease a good views to have it more place to come up.

So does the manfacturer say it's OK to try a 2 exh unit w/ just one? No alarms, high humidity or mold?

Re: portable air conditioning

2 into 1's generally perform a little better at the high rpm range but lose a little in the mid range torque dept. There are a thousand different opinions on this subject but the dyno seems to support max horse power leaders are usually using a 2 into 1.

Depends on what you want, If you want just cooling, go with the 2 hose. If you want cooling plus fresh air from adjacent spaces (all of them), go with the 1 hose unit.

Actually the two air hose units work the same as the one, except the extra hose helps with evaporation. I called the company that makes mine and they did not have a clue what the second hose was for (since the first hose was not for air intake) but after taking with an engineer for a round an hour we deduced that it was to help with the self evaporation feature.
