My porch is not properly pitched and water runs towards the house. Can I use a self-leveling cement over the brick tiles then top it with slate? It is a small porch - less than 20sf - with about 2 inch clearance from porch to door.
I would not trust self leveling cement to achieve the correct pitch. I would make a frame from 2x's that goes around the perimeter of the existing porch. The top of this frame would extend past the current top of the porch with the correct pitch away from the door. Fill with cement, screed and trowel the cement within the frame so it slopes away from the door, then apply the slate. After a couple days, remove the frame.
