Plumber left drip at L wrench location on tub spout
HelenS

I had a plumber come to my home to change out the cartridge behind the handle where the water turns on; for the water flow in my tub/shower. (water was running slow, cartridge got clogged)
I now have a leak at the location where the L wrench goes in to remove the tub spout (beneath that knob) He removed this also to replace the cartridge.
Is this normal or did he not perform the job correctly??

When your car radiator leaks, you take it to the shop. The mechanic replaces some parts, but it's still leaking.

Is it acceptable to you?

I didn't think so.

The same with a nagging small leak in your faucet. Call the plumber and ask him to fix the leak like a pro.

I'm not sure why the plumber would remove the tub spout for a valve cartridge problem, but, whatever. Should there be a leak/drip at the spout locking ring after playing with the cartridge? Absolutely not! The valve/cartridge controls the water flow to all other areas (tub spout, shower head ), so for these items to suddenly start dripping once the cartridge has been replaced shouldn't be an issue. Call back the plumber to fix the problem
