Paver Blocks Under Fence Line

I am planning on digging a trench, lining it with landscape fabric, and placing paver blocks under my fence line (I have a 5-foot wooden fence) with paver locking sand to hold it all into place. Will the paver blocks rise at all when the ground freezes in the winter? Do I need to leave more than an inch or two between the top of the paver block and the bottom of the fencing?

Re: Paver Blocks Under Fence Line

I'm pretty sure you are going to have some problem with frost heave in the winter. I’m not sure if 1” is enough space – I‘d be a little concerned about splashing in heavy rains. Have you thought about something more porous like decorative rock or nice bark mulch?
