patching horsehair plaster cracks

Hello -

I recently had new cabinets installed in the kitchen and unfortunately now have new cracks on the wall where filler pieces got attached to a wall. The cracks are about 1/8" deep, 1/2" wide and usually less than a couple inches long (it is where pieces crumbled off of the wall). Any tips on how to patch this? Do I need to put a mesh in before using joint compound? I was planning on using All Purpose Joint Compound in a green container unless there are other recommendations.

Thank you!
