DJ it wouldnt matter what kind of tree it was as long as the city didnt know you killed the tree on purpose....the bucket's a smoke screen to make them think your dumb...the copper should kill the tree in time......DUH.....

Gizmo, i know a neighbor who did this, finally the city did remove the dead tree and fix a 10 foot concrete section, but it took 12 years. Time is on their side.

For quicker results (you know, life's short), I still think that removing broken concrete, cutting roots and pouting new concrete is the best solution.
