Not sure if this should be a reply to the recent "sticky window" thread or if it is okay to start a new thread as this is a little different.
The painters painting the interior of my 1946 Colonial style house have painted the sash tracks (is there a better term for "tracks?") of the original wood sash double hung windows. They had been painted previously so the natural thing is to repaint them so they match the rest of the window. I was taught that the track is not supposed to be painted at all. Not sure what to do now, though, should I tell them not to paint the track in the rest of the house or will that look weird? Am I going to have a problem operating the windows? They are the type with a coiled spring inside a metal tube, which I am guessing are original, though I could be wrong about that.
