Painting treated lumber

I am repairing some exterior trim boards on a house.

My lumberyard does not recommend painting treated lumber saying it will not stay.

Can it be painted successfully and what is the process to achieve the best results?
Is there better paints or classes of paint to use?

You cannot paint chemically treated lumber, and expect it to stay on. Replace it with cedar or another natural hardwood that is better for outdoor use. Then you can do what ever you wish with it, and it will last longer then your lifetime.

Treated lumber is far to wet to paint, if you can leave it for a year or so it will dry enough to use a solid stain on it .
