painting outside of house

I'm getting set to have at least the trim on my house painted. (And maybe have the vinyl siding taken off and the body of the house painted as well, but that's another thread....) I'd appreciate any thoughts on two questions:

1. Painter A said he would tint the oil primer and then apply one coat of latex stain or paint. Painter B said that he would apply the oil primer without tinting it and apply two coats of latex stain or paint, and that tinting the primer doesn't work. Both use Benjamin Moore. Painter B is much more expensive. Any thoughts or experience with Painter A's approach? People seem happy with his work, but maybe it doesn't last as long?

2. If I don't get the siding taken off and the body of the house painted now, I'll probably do it later. I'm wondering if splitting the job necessarily makes for extra work (since, for example, the siding butts up against the window frames, so they wouldn't be accessible until the body is done).

Thanks, again.
