Painted cabinets need some help

I have good oak kitchen cabinets that were originally stained. We removed the stain and had all the cabinets professionally painted white to lighten the room up. The cabinets are now about 7 years old and while they're in great shape, the paint on the doors is starting to look "dirty". I've tried cleaning them but it doesn't help. I'm thinking of trying to age or antique the doors and parts of the surrounding surfaces a little to give it a new look. I was thinking of doing some random sanding on all doors and then using some stain. Has anyone done this and would like to pass on some words of advice? The cabinets have a raised panel around the perimeter of each door. I do have iron door handles. Thanks!!
