Paint splatter removal

I took the carpet out of my dining room hoping to refinish the 100 year old pine floors. There is a lot of old oil based paint splatter on the floor. It's probably been there for years. I tried using mineral spirits in a couple spots which worked great but left a very dark spot on the wood. The floor doesnt have a lot of finish on it. Any suggestions please.

Re: Paint splatter removal

If it is dried oil paint, mineral spirits and other common solvents are not going to touch it. You state that there apears to be little finish on the wood. If so, sanding would be relatively easy , as you don't have to break through years of varnnish accumuation before getting to the bare wood.
