Paint peeling on tin ceiling
krandall50

Hello,

My kitchen has a tin ceiling that was likely installed around 1900. Three years ago the kitchen remodeler convinced me that instead of striping the likely lead paint, peel bond primer would take care of sealing it in and addressing cracking and peeling.

This didn't last in a few places. The thought of getting the paint off now is even more daunting, in particular given the new cabinets and counter tops.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Once the layers of paint reach a great thickness and are no longer flexible, there is no alternative but that they break free from the substrate.
Stripping ceilings is hard. Tin ceilings have no alternative but chemical strippers. Chemical stripping overhead is going to require a very stringent protection regime for the cabinets and floors., as well as your person (eyes, skin, lungs)
