I am building a brand new, 300-year olde English country house. Until recently I thought I wanted unprotected solid brass fixtures that would patinate over time, yet a (presumed) pro from another forum warns me "brass" can be comprised of a lot of things such that rather than a delicate trace of verdigris here and there, I could find my hands and countertops seriously stained. So IF that's true, could anyone suggest the next best thing? Traditional in style, NOT shiny, solidly warrantied, reasonably priced, easily maintained. That's not asking much, is it? :) And is it true that I should ensure a PVD coating?
