outside sconces mounted on brick

Hello, Reciently I watched season 11, episode 13 on outside scounce replacement. I am in the process of replacing mine. The one at my back door was done in the same manner as the episode - but - the 3 front ones were monted on brick. I noticed that those 3 were not flush and in the past 10 years, the wind and water has allowed some seepage to the back of the sconces. How can I use the same process from episode 13 with the brick. Should I just have a sealent, or should I use cement to level the brick before mounting the new sconces? I could use a reply ASAP as my repairman will be here this week. Thank you.:confused:

Re: outside sconces mounted on brick

I didn't see the episode and can't see your house from here, but I'll throw out a few ideas;

1- Buy some sort of trim made from Fypon or Aztek type material that acts as a shim between the brick and the fixture

2- Use foam-inna-can to seal the hole in the wall then mount the fixture

3- Get a fixture that allows it to be flush with the brick

Option 1 may be easiest if you can locate such a part. Check with a siding supplier.
