So we just bought a house. There's a concrete slab that was built too high and the out joist is getting wet with run-off from the slab. Are there any other options other than demolishing the slab? See photos. Thanks.
It looks like the metal in the photo is a termite shield & not flashing.
Flashing would be under the water barrier & over the wood.
If the footer and slab are a monolithic pour it will be really tough to demo the slab without affecting the footer. Even if ther are separate pours, demoing the slab might compromise the engineering of the footer. To be safe, I would consult an architect/engineer for guidance.
