Our New Home
Lan

Hello,

My husband and I just purchased our first home together.  We are excited and very nervous at the same time. It needs a lot of work and we have prioritized what needs to be fixed first since we do not have the budget to fix everything right now so the roof, boiler, and carpenter ants are the first ones on our list but we have other issues as well. The previous owner smoked in the house. We do not know how long she has been smoking in the house but we would like to get rid of the odor in the house.  Any suggestions/recommendations on removing smoke odor DIY projector?

Thank you so much!

Hey, Lan! Congrats on your purchase :)
Clean walls, windows and ceilings with vinegar mixed with water. It works well with smoke odor, just don't use it on fabrics. If you have any carpets left from previous owner, they need to be shampooed or cleaned with soda. Just dust them, then leave the baking soda to settle for a day or so. After that, dust again. And don't forget to remove all drapes - you'll need to wash them in hot water (if possible).

Depending on how bad it is you wash down the wall, prime paint, steam clean the carpet. get the vents cleaned. if its that bad in there in some cases the company i worked for would actually tear down the walls and replace in bad areas and get new carpet and padding in others. things like febreeze will NOT work.
