Re: OUR MOST EMAILED QUESTIONS: What's wrong with my oven?

Google for some on line appliance parts sellers. Still expensive but not as bad as a brick and mortar.

Spruce, you mentioned Analog controls, and here is a short story:

A new tenant moved in to a house with a brand new top of the line range. Self cleaning, 5 sealed burners, stainless steel - the works. I got it at a discount since it had a dent, which was invisible once the range was in place.

Six months later the tenant called me "the range is not working". I went there and saw that the tenant abused it, tampered with the control board and never cleaned it - it looked like a 10 yo range. Needless to say, I wasn't amused, but since she was paying on time, I decided not to make a fuss and got her a used analog range I picked at craigslist for $50. It was working - that's all I cared. She complained: "I thought you were going to replace it with a similar top of the line range??!!"...
My answer was: "This replacement range complies with city laws and that is the range you get".
And the broken range? I had my guy clean it, I had the control board fixed ($79 on line service) and placed it in another house. It's still working.

Update, for those who care to know:

The tenant called and said that the oven is now working. Fine for them, but more puzzling for me. I'll just go with the flow, for now, until the next call.

Appliances just don't seem to be working the way they're supposed to. One reader writes, "My cakes never rise and I follow the instructions on the packages, but nothing ever warms or cooks thoroughly. What's wrong with the oven?"

Give us your two cents here.

Maybe something is wrong with the instructions!
