I live in southeastern Colorado where the water is expensive.
Because of this I've been looking at other alternatives for a lawn such as buffalo grass that is also drought tolerant.
Can anyone out there give me some other grass alternatives?
Arizona style: rocks, gravel and desert type plants.
I installed a similar front yard in a house 2 months ago, and everybody is happy about the water savings. Some cities now offer incentives to convert to desert style landscape, check at your city hall.
If you live in a rural area, you can simply stop watering your lawn and let native grass seed blow into your area. There is an issue of invasive species also taking over if you do this. Check with your local agricultural extension agent for other options.
