Old brick with moisture

I live in an old brick house in Central Ohio. The original house was built around 1815. The upstairs has not been updated or used much for several decades. We have installed a new metal roof over the last couple of months. On the south wall upstairs, moisture is making its way through to the interior wall. We are going to have someone run new electric and install new drywall. I have heard that some people seal their brick to preserve it on the outside of the home. However, does this help to prevent the moisture that I am having on the inside. What should I do or who should I contact to fix this problem?
