I was told that an oil tank was removed from my yard before i bought the house. The town even certified it. Can someone look at the attachment and tell me what this is?
It could be an oil tank. Just because one was removed doesn't mean there wasn't another. They use to abandom old tanks by filling them with sand rather than digging them up.
That's what I thought it looks like, too - top of a septic tank. Have you had a chance to dig around it any more?
Can't tell from the photo ..... is it steel or concrete ?
Now that I look at the picture closer, it looks like stone and may be a well cover with a hole drilled or cut for a hand pump.
I think its to close to the surface to be oil tank becuz the oil would get full of water and jelly up from freezing. Mabe a pump pit or septic tank like others said.
how big is it cuz if small mabe a water meter box if city water or a sprinkler system.
