Odd ball plastic thingy....

Can anybody tell me what is the proper name for this thingy and where can I find it?

It is hard plastic and approx 8 or 9 inches in diameter. It goes between the tub / shower valve and one piece fiberglass tub / shower wall.

Look at two pictures below....... I know the hole on the wall is hacked....whoever did this should be hacked badly.....

Pretty simple Walt.

Just go to the hardware store and ask for duct tape, wd-40 and a plastic thingy........ They will fix you right up.

Walt,
It is called either a Plate or a Mounting Plate for the shower control. Do you know the manufaturer of the control and if posible the model?

[COLOR=black]No, it is from old shower/ tub valve that was leaking. ...sorry, I have no clue on make and model.

I'm using Delta tub & shower kit, the one that came with the kit is smaller than the white plastic thingy.

The white plastic thingy will work but the little holes are straight across, I need diagonally holes…[.2 o’clock and 8 o’clock position]............I could try to drill 2 holes but this white plastic thingy is cracked badly.

Get a piece of ½" CDX and make one. You only need the right inside diameter. Mark the position and drill the holes and glue a couple of nuts on the back side. It's only purpose is to hold the decorative plate in place.

That's what I was thinking....

I guess I may have to wait until next weekend. I'm pretty tied up for now.

Rather than using plywood ---------- which might rot if wet ------- go to a dollar store and pickup a cheap nylon cutting board.
They come in various thicknesses and shapes ----- round , square or rectangular.

When you find one the right size ------ lay the old one down and trace it onto the new pice. Then lay on the new one ( the one that's too small ) inside the larger traced outline ----- trace out the opening and mark the screw holes ------ cut and drill and you're done.

Looks as though there are 2 stand offs to deal with ------- you might be able to cutoff the old ones and expoxy ( or duct tape :D) them to the new piece ----- then and again it may not be a big deal if they were glued in place.

Just a thought.
