Note on wood splitting tip seen on TV

I saw the viewer tip about using a bungee to hold the log together while splitting.

I noticed that the split wood was then stacked bark side down. Doing this cups the grain, allowing rain to collect in the rings. Stacking with the bark side up (after the first row on the ground) will protect the wood from collecting so much moisture.
