New roof estimate

folks - I've gotten a roof replacement estimate for my 100 year old house that currently has hard slate. I could of course keep repairing the slate when leaks appear every 2 years in different parts of the roof but it's a little stressful when we are on vacations and I think I'm time for a replacement. Can someone take a look and see if $17,500 is a fair cost in NYC or should I keep shopping around? Roof size approx 2700sq feet

- gaf woodland lifetime designer shingles (gives the slate look similar to what's on the house) - If I choose plain architectural shingles, I'll save 2k

- TPO PVC flat roof over 10x30 extension

- soffit & fascia repair and replace where necessary (some of the soffit wood has gotten rotten and would need to be replaced)

Re: New roof estimate

Sounds just about right to me i paid $3.50 a Sq. in the South & you have Slate which is more difficult to remove plus you are in a higher pay scale area. The cost modifier for your area  V's  the South is 1.45 more per SQ.

Re: New roof estimate

guys - any value to the old slate being taken out? Instead of having the roofer dispose it off, can I sell it - it's a 2200 square foot roof so would help to know its approximate value would be before pursuing this option - thanks
