I heave gotten several PMs from people that say they signed up but can't post. Apparently, one of the changes that the forum initiated was to send an e-mail to new members with a conformation link. All that have PMed me said they didn't get the e-mail conformation. It could be with their e-mail service filters or the e-mail may be going into their spam file. Not sure if it comes from TOH, Time, or the forum host.

I was absent from this site for several months because I no longer could log in. After many, many tries to get back on, I just gave up! I don't know if I am just a tech idiot or this is a very non-intuitive site. Finally managed to get back on, but don't know what I did differently.

I frequently have this issue when I do computer maintenance, clearing cache and cookies. The issue is on TOH's side and/or the forum host site (forum is hosted outside of TOH ). This last time, about 6 or 8 weeks ago, it was the host site that was off-line for several days, which precipitated the two threads on the status of the site and our discovery that TOH has revamped their main site and removed the forum link from it. The general consensus amongst us regulars is that TOH will be abandoning this forum, either altogether or this incarnation of it. They have updated/changed the forum software before without notice, leaving it up to us to figure out why there is no traffic or whatever the case may be. Typical day at TOH.

ordgen - I had the same problem. I tried making a new "log in" but then they said my email showed I already had one, but I couldn't log in on that one. I am surprised that TOH cannot manage to build a better web site. I do like that now the page does not totally reload each time I want to flip through a gallery, but the new site has a long ways to go - surprising in this day and age of easy web site building.

Read this thread: https://advice.thisoldhouse.com/showthread.php?128929-I-thought-the-Board-was-a-goner-for-sure

And be sure to make email contact with some of us in case the worst happens so we can find new digs somewhere else.

If a link from the new/improved TOH home page to these here forums exists, I could not find it. So we're on our own.

There is a link to the forum on this page:
https://www.thisoldhouse.com/ask-old-house-faqs

However, there is no menu link to "Ask This Old House" FAQs. It is a new page, but there is no way to get to this new page from any menu. I did a search of "forum" and the Ask This Old House FAQs page came up and I found the forum link. This is a different page than the general TV FAQ link found at the bottom of the home page.

This Old House - my son does web design if you can't figure this out:)
