I just had a new Carrier Performance 80 oil furnace installed. The sound of the air venting to the upstairs bedrooms is as loud as the furnace sound when downstairs in the utility room. I was told by the installers and then the serviceman (who they sent when I asked about the high level of noise) that since I selected a Riello burner, that is the reason for the loud volume. Had I selected a Beckett burner, I was told the furnace would work at a reduced volume level. (I am not an expert. I was not told in advance of this noise issue.) The information on the Carrier site states no difference in noise level between the burners. It states that it is a quiet furnace.
Does anyone have any experience with this burner/furnace?
Thank you. I am baffled.
