We are renovating an old (>100yo) house. The walls are post and beam with angled beams. We removed all the plaster and lath. Our challenge is to run wiring and mount boxes in the mud or on the beams as there are no studs to affix boxes.
We could easily rout out the mud to place a box but then we would have nothing to anchor it to. Another obvious option would be to stud out from the beams giving room for the boxes on the stud but that would then require us to put extension jams on all the windows (a project we do not embrace)
Question: What ideas are out there for anchoring electrical in the mud/beam construction style?
Is there a bracket made that would allow the box to be anchored to the angled beam? Like a sheet metal box mount to flush mount on the beams? Are there other ideas?
Thank you so much.
