New cartridge/o ring...still leaky!

I have replaced the cartridge (which included the o rings for my kitchen faucet...this brings the dripping to a halt but when I begin to put it back together and twist the screw that goes into the new cartridge, the leak starts again. I am at a loss!! What am I missing??

Remove the cartridge and look down in the bottom of the faucet well. You should see a rubber washer in the hole where the water comes up, pull that out along with it's spring. It will be a small spring and a small rubber washer sort of shaped like a cup. Replace those two items. Thats what usually cause a faucet to drip, the "o" ring would cause water to seep out around the handle. At least that is the way our Delta works. It's item #19 in this drawing

I looked, but don't have one of those! I have a single "lever" kitchen sink faucet too...it's by Moen. I don't know if that matters??

Go here http://www.moen.com/buymoen/buyparts/index.cfm and find your faucet, check to make sure you have the right cartridge. If you have to wrong one or a generic cartridge, the stem may be short and when you tighten down the screw it is pulling up the cartridge. You can also print out and assemble diagram. You may need to replace pivot retainer or handle adapter kit depending on model.
